Happy 4th of July

Whether you’re at a barbecue, at a pool party, or having a movie marathon (like we are)… everyone here at Play Hard, Bark Often hope you have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!

Rosee’s Recipe for a holiday-inspired treat:

You’ll Need: Strawberries, Blueberries, Lactose-free ice cream (since dogs aren’t really able to digest lactose), water, mold, mixing bowls, a knife, and a spoon

Step 1: Chop up some fruit, which is dog-approved–the pups like strawberries and blueberries and since it was the 4th of July they fit the theme–into pieces small enough to fit your mold.

Step 2: Melt some ice cream (it works better when it’s in liquid form) to pour into your mold. I also added some water to my mixture so the pupsicle would freeze a little better since ice cream doesn’t completely freeze solid (i.e.ice cream is too soft and won’t come out of the mold quite right).

Step 3: Pour just enough of the melted ice cream mixture to cover the bottom of the mold.

Step 4: Spoon in some of the cut up fruit into each mold, and give it a minute to let it settle.

Step 5: Spoon some extra ice cream mixture over the top to fill the mold completely.

Step 6: Freeze the pupsicles until hard.

Step 7: Pop out of the mold and Enjoy!
